Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a PDF to DXF?

Upload your PDF, leave the method on Vector geometry, pick the drawing units, and click Convert to DXF. A preview of the extracted geometry appears, and each page can be downloaded on its own or all together as a ZIP.

What is the difference between the two conversion methods?

Vector geometry reads the actual path instructions inside the PDF, which keeps straight lines straight and gives clean, editable CAD entities. Outline trace renders the page to pixels first and follows the outlines, which is the only option when the PDF is a scan with no vector data in it.

Will my drawing come out at the right scale?

Yes. The PDF page size is used directly, so a drawing printed at 1:1 on an A4 sheet arrives as a 210 by 297 mm drawing. If your PDF was plotted at a scale such as 1:50, apply that same scale factor in your CAD software after opening the file.

Which DXF version do I get?

Files are written as AutoCAD R12 (AC1009) ASCII DXF, the most widely supported flavour. It opens in AutoCAD, LibreCAD, QCAD, DraftSight, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Inkscape, LightBurn and most CNC and laser cutting software.

What happens to curves and text?

R12 DXF has no spline entity, so curves are converted into polyline segments and you can choose how finely they are followed. Text can be kept as editable DXF TEXT entities placed on a separate TEXT layer, or left out entirely.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is parsed locally in your browser with PDF.js and the DXF is written on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
